ARTISTIC FELLOWSHIP POSITION

San Francisco-based Contemporary Ballet Company Amy Seiwert’s Imagery is accepting applications for our two-year Artistic Fellowship Position (January 2022-December 2023).

ABOUT IMAGERY

Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, a contemporary ballet company in San Francisco, believes that ballet is an expressive and vital voice relevant to our times. Imagery’s artists share the belief that through collaboration & experimentation, vibrant and courageous ideas are expressed and habitual reactions are discouraged. Imagery’s mission is to expand the definition of ballet by exploding preconceptions of what ballet is and can be.


DETAILS 

Amy Seiwert’s Imagery (ASI) launched the Artistic Fellowship position in 2018 to address a gap within the ballet field. The Fellowship supports dance artists who strive to be the next generation of choreographic leaders in our field. The Fellowship supports the jump from a performing career to an artist’s next step. ASI’s Artistic Fellowship provides emerging choreographers with artistic and arts administrative mentorship, tools, and experience.

Summary

  • Two-year term starting January 2022, ending December 2023

  • The Fellowship program provides: 

    • Artistic mentorship from Artistic Director, Amy Seiwert 

    • Arts administration mentorship from Managing Director Annika Presley.

    • Two Choreographic commissions for the SKETCH series in 2022 and 2023. 

Pay:

  • $25/hr for approximately 20 hours a month as an employee, plus

  • $3,000 per SKETCH commission

  • Based in one of the seven Bay Area Counties - San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, Marin, or Sonoma.

  • A cover letter (1-2 pages) explaining why you are interested in ASI’s  Artistic Fellowship Position at this time in your life/career.

  • Resume/CV with relevant experience.

  • Two (2) video work samples of your (recent) creative work. Please provide a link in a pdf document, including a brief context for the piece. 

  • Three references. 

  • One letter of recommendation.

Deadline to apply: October 31st, 2021
Applicants will be notified if they are selected for a (Zoom) interview by November 21, with the final candidate chosen no later than December 15.
