Over the years Amy Seiwert and Imagery have been exploring the medium of dance film as a fantastic opportunity to make an ephemeral art more permanent and to show dance in new ways. This year, Ben Needham-Wood, Imagery’s Artistic Fellow, and other Imagery dancers have a strong presence in the films at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
Join us October 11th at the Brava Theater and see Ben Needham-Wood and Weston Krukow at the SFDFF on the big screen and on stage in a post-screening performance featuring the classic “Who’s On First” routine. Also on the program is the world premiere of Alexander Ekman’s “Concise Guide to Natural Movement,” featuring Ben and Sarah Cecilia. The evening is Co-presented by Amy Seiwert’s Imagery and made possible by Steve and Niko Mayer.
Stay tuned for the 9th iteration of Imagery's celebrated SKETCH Series, an annual creative laboratory which provides a safe place for risk-taking in ballet-based choreography. During an intensive 6-week rehearsal period three choreographers will each create a new ballet for the eight dancers of Amy Seiwert’s Imagery. We will be exploring new potentials on utilizing projection as a theatrical lighting source, stepping out of the traditional mindset of how to light a ballet. New works by Amy Seiwert, Artistic Fellow Ben Needham-Wood, and one choreographer yet to be revealed.
